Sleep is a distant memory. I KNOW that at some point in my life I have slept for more than 2 hours in a row but right now I can’t remember when that was. Lakie likes to sleep during the day when we have things to do and she likes to stay up all night. Last night was a little better. I got 6 hours of sleep total. I never in my life thought that I would be able to exist on that much sleep. Amazing what our bodies can do when tested.

I keep trying to find time to get online and get some work done on Lakie’s web page but between breastfeeding, trying to catch a tiny bit of sleep here and there and trying to stay off my feet a little so that my incision can heal, I don’t have much time to do anything. I am still very sore and walking for any length of time is very painful. Getting out of bed and the car isn’t too much fun either but I think I’m starting to see some improvement.
Drew took last week off of work and he went in today and found out he has next week off too!! Yay!! I am really not ready to go it alone. I have gotten quite used to this tag team approach and I know it’s gonna take a lot of adjusting when he does go back to work. I’ll just enjoy it while I can.
Drew‘s mother and brother came up over this past weekend to see Lakie and they both seemed enthralled by her. Of course I can’t imagine anyone NOT being head over heels for her but I guess I’m a little biased eh?
Drew‘s father and his girlfriend Carol are coming up this coming Sunday and I know Drew is looking forward to showing off his baby girl to yet another set of adoring family members. He is quite the daddy, doting on her and dancing her around the house, which seems to quiet her when nothing else will.
Breastfeeding is .. going okay. Well no, to be completely onjective, it’s going pretty well I think. It’s just hard to see that when I’m tired and have sore nipples. Lakie is wanting to nurse much more now than she was for a few days and I think she must be going through a growth spurt. She outgrew her preemie socks day before yesterday and today I noticed that her arms stick further out of her gown than before. I am excited because I’ve been worried about whether she’s been getting enough to eat.
My first postpartum appointment is next Monday the 30th at 10:45 am and Lakie’s first check-up is the same day at 2:30 pm. I’ll bet she’s up to 6 pounds by now (she was down to 5 lbs 7 oz when we left the hospital).
That’s about all I have time for now. More later. Lots and lots of pictures are on the way I promise. In the meantime here are just a couple.
