It’s Been a Long December

And there’s reason to believe, maybe this year will be better than the last.

I sure as hell hope so. Things have hit an all new low here at the House of Too Many and we shall be moving within 6 weeks time if all goes as planned. Sooner would be better but unfortunately, sooner requires more money than we have right now. Online retail is slow for everyone right now — everyone is so shocked at how much they spent for Christmas that they haven’t begun thinking of spending more… or so I assume. At any rate, things will be better in all respects very soon.

We went driving today – just to get a break from here. We drove up to Chimney Rock and Lake Lure. It was very nice, chilly but clear and crisp. We walked, we fed ducks, we drew our names in the dirt, we had a picnic and laughed and had a great time.

Tonight we drank hot chocolate, read a couple of chapters from Lakin’s new book and then the girls went to bed. Everyone is gone, out celebrating the New Year. Drew and I are here alone for a change. He’s re-reading Harry Potter 4 and I’m re-reading Harry Potter 5. And most likely, that’s how we’ll ring in the New Year — side by side on the couch, reading, drinking hot chocolate and just being together.

Happy New Year all!
