Fruity Floral Decadence

Wordful Wednesday is like Wordless Wednesday, only WITH words. It’s for those of us that can’t contain the chatter, but in a good way. You can find out more about participating in Wordful Wednesday by visiting Seven Clown Circus.

While the girls enjoyed their last day of school, David & I took our own little “last day of school” field trip. Once school is out, gone are the days when we can go out alone, unless their dad happens to take them on a day when David is off work, which doesn’t happen very often.

We headed to the Fresh Market natural foods store, in search of our favorite junk foods: salt water taffy and chocolate covered peanuts. In addition to delicious organic vegetables & fruits, the Fresh Market carries homemade salt water taffy in small (and cheap) quantities… you can buy a 1 lb. bag of various flavors for under $4. They have a huge assortment of nuts and candy, drizzled in dark, milk and white chocolate. Oh and the swirly whirly lollipops! Yummy!

I was distracted as soon as we entered the store by the floral section — gorgeous roses, tulips and orchids in a myriad of colors. There was a giant section of sunflowers and behind that, freesia and delphiniums, delicate and lovely. I’d have brought home half of the floral department if I had the extra cash.

We walked straight from the floral department into the colorful expanse of the organic produce… Georgia peaches and local strawberries. There were fat juicy cherries and blueberries and raspberries next to lime green watermelons and honeydew melons. A veritable smorgasbord of healthy decadence!

And after all that… choosing the perfect peaches to take home to the girls and taste testing the salt water taffy flavors and tracking down David’s favorite dark chocolate peanuts… I completely forgot to snap a picture of the taffy!
Just the excuse I needed to go back for more!
