A Day of Silence for the Victims of Sandy Hook

A Blogger Day of Silence for the Victims of Sandy Hook Connecticut

On Tuesday, December 18th, there will be a blogger day of silence. I, along with many other bloggers, will post the above image and that’s it. I will not post anything else on this blog tomorrow. Today is the last day of our Early Christmas Present Giveaway {ends at midnight}, and winners will be randomly selected tomorrow, but I will not announce the winners publicly until Wednesday morning.

The blogging community is also raising money that will go to an organization in the memory of this tragedy. The organization is called The Newtown Family Youth and Family Services. Here is the official description of the support service we are donating to:

“Newtown Youth and Family Services, Inc. is a licensed, non-profit, mental health clinic and youth services bureau dedicated to helping children and families achieve their highest potential. NYFS provides programs, services, activities, counseling, support groups and education throughout the Greater Newtown area.

ANY DONATIONS MADE TO NEWTOWN YOUTH AND FAMILY SERVICES WILL BE DONATED DIRECTLY TO THOSE EFFECTED BY THE SANDY HOOK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SHOOTING.”

Please visit THIS PAGE to make your donation.

I feel like I can imagine how these families must be feeling, because I have lost a child. However, it is unspeakably horrible to lose a child to violence, especially this close to the holidays. I would love for you to spread the word on your own blog, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Let’s make a difference and use blogging in a positive way. Thank you in advance for participating.

Love,
Heather {and The Blog World}

P.S. If you would like to copy/paste and re-post any part of this, please do. Share on.

    Thanks for sharing about this on your page and many of us on the Bloppy Bloggers FB are also doing this tomorrow as well.

  • I am just seeing that… I’ve had to stay off of FB for the most part this weekend, for my own mental health. I will link to your post about the day of silence as well, Janine! 🙂

    Oh no worries. Just was happy to see that this was so widespread of a movement 🙂 🙂

  • I was unaware of this until I stopped in just now, but I will now be observing the day of silence as well. My heart goes out to the families effected by this tragedy. Hugs to you.
