Happy 10th Birthday, Addah!

My middle girl, Addah Shannon, the one who has been my “baby” for most of her life, turns 10 years old today! I am so proud of this girl, so honored to be her mother, and so grateful for her, every day.

She was born strong, a little fighter at 33½ weeks, and she spent only 10 days in the NICU before coming home to her family. I never planned to have another baby, so she was always my baby, and I have relished every moment of her life, every milestone and year that has passed. Now she’s become a big sister to sweet Clara, so she’s no longer the baby, but it’s hard not to still think of her that way.

Addah has been a ray of light in my life since the moment I first saw her tiny face. She is a happy child who loves to make others smile and laugh. She is always ready with a joke, a goofy face or a silly dance. She is a talented artist and she keeps our home filled with bright colored drawings. Her favorite “person” in the world is her stuffed penguin, Pengy, a constant companion since she was 4 years old. Addah learned how to knit this summer and is studiously working on a scarf for Pengy, lest he get too cold this winter.

She is a fashionista with an eye for putting together cool outfits and hairstyles. She loves to help clean the house (doing dishes by hand is her favorite) and is an invaluable help to me at all times. She has been an amazing source of strength to me in the months since Clara died.

Happy 10th Birthday to my sweet Addah Bee Girl!

David, Lakin and I love you so very much!
