Knit Socks for Christmas

I decided that David needed a new pair of knit socks, and I’ve had my eye on the Longitudinal pattern since it came out in Knitty’s online knitting magazine. David chose a sturdy wool/acrylic blend sock yarn in shades of autumn browns and oranges from my yarn stash and I promised him I’d try to get them done in time for Christmas. I made it… but not by much!

These socks are knit completely in garter stitch, back and forth from cuff around the toe, back to the cuff. There are increases and decreases to shape the toe and heel. It’s actually pretty fascinating, watching the whole sock come together.

David tells me that they’re very comfortable, and he’s been wearing them almost constantly since they came off the needles. I slipped them on one night after he took them off, and they are super nice… I might have to make a pair for myself!
