Insane Goals 2013

Insane Goals for 2012There are quite a few things that David and I want to accomplish this year. We’re still working on our 101 Things in 1,001 Days list, and slowly whittling away at it, but these are the things that either did not make that list (but still need to be done), or that we think can be accomplished in this calendar year.

I’ll take one day out of every month to go over our successes and failures from the previous month. I do better at sticking to goals when I’m faced with a list, something to consult and keep me on track as I check items off of my list.

I’m linking up with Rebekah at, as part of her Insane Goals 2013 movement! Will you join up and help keep yourself on track for getting things done this year?

Insane Goals 2013

Life Goals

  • Save $1000 this year.
  • Take a vacation.
  • Monthly date nights for David and I.
  • Yearly maintenance on our car.
  • Donate blankets to the hospital in July {in memory of Clara}.
  • Lose 30 lbs – I need to lose much more than this, but it’s a highly attainable start.
  • Participate in Greenville’s Zombie Walk.
  • Attend Renaissance Faire in Charlotte, NC.
House Goals
  • Organize/declutter: my sewing area, kitchen cabinets, our bedroom, girls’ room, our closet.
  • Container gardening – I love growing herbs and vegetables, and I really missed having a place to exercise my green thumb last year. I can’t plant in the ground at our apartment, but I can do some container gardening, and I intend to!
Cooking Goals
  • Use bread machine more!
  • Can & freeze – jellies, salsa, pickles.
  • Freeze casseroles for nights when I don’t feel like cooking.
Parenting Goals
  • Get pregnant!
  • Encourage the kids to be more self-reliant (bathing without an argument, for instance).
Blogging Goals {Heather}
  • Double my monthly traffic.
  • Post at least 20 times per month.
  • Increase blogging income every month.
Work Goals {David}
  • Get a promotion and raise.
  • Complete HVAC certification.
  • Finish setting up RedBubble shop.
  • Sell at least one original drawing.

Awesome goals! Lovely post and I bet you’ll get most if not all of them done: they’re all pretty attainable. PS – I REALLY, REALLY want to go to the Renaissance Faire in Charlotte, too. I didn’t make it this year, but October…sigh…October is too far away, lol.

  • I love your list and by the way, I didn’t know your were on RedBubble. I did a sponsored post for them a few weeks back and loved their site. Thanks for sharing and this is awesome idea 🙂

  • We LOVE the Charlotte Ren Faire! I’ve gone almost every year since 1998… but missed the last two years and am determined to get back this year. 🙂

  • Thank you! David and I are midway through setting up his RedBubble store… been midway through it for a couple months now, and time keeps slipping away! Your sponsored post reaffirmed that we HAVE to get this store going for his artwork.

  • Oh I can’t wait to see what David puts up there and just love their site for how they really are tailored for artists. If I was artistic at all I would so be all over that one, but seriously send me the link when it is up and running and would love to see it 🙂 🙂

  • I definitely will, and thank you! He has had a Deviant Art site/store for a while, but there are so many kids/teens/amateurs there that the really great artwork seems to get lost in the shuffle. I love that RedBubble is for real artists… adults who are serious about their craft.

  • I feel the same as you about RedBubble and was trying to get Kevin to try it out. Hopefully, when he has a few free moments, he will look into 🙂

  • Emily

Those are great goals! And if you feel like making and freezing any casseroles and sending them my way, feel free! I am NOT a cook, which makes feeding three hungry boys a challenge!

  • Rebekah from Simply Rebekah

What a great (and totally insane) list!! I love it!

If you come across any wonderful freezer meal recipes, pass them on to me! I’m always looking for a good, quick and easy dish.

  • If he does, be sure to send me a link! David loves checking out other artists… he doesn’t get much social networking time, because I’m a laptop hog. 😉

  • Thanks Rebekah! I will pass them along if I find/try any good ones! Time for a new Pinterest board!

  • I am not a great cook either, not really. I WANT to be a great cook, making delicious and nutritious meals for my family, but in practice, dinner time is my weak point. I’ve got to get better… I can’t have the kids eating cereal and ramen for dinner every night. 😉

HUZZAH! These sound like some fun goals, here. All of them are doable. I think it’s the sum total that could feel a bit impossible. But…one goal at a time. Good luck 🙂

  • Yes, one goal at a time, so we don’t get overwhelmed! Thank you for the luck… we’re going to need it, pretty sure! 🙂
