It’s another Wordful Wednesday!
My poor husband has been slowly going blind for a few months now. He’s 37 years old and has never before worn glasses – never even had an eye exam, if you can believe that?! – but it has become more and more evident that his eyes were getting worse. He’s an artist and years of up-close focus work on his illustrations have taken their toll on his eyesight.
This Monday, David had his first eye exam and was pronounced “very far-sighted”. He has no problem seeing things that are far away, but anything that’s close is blurry. If he strains to see close, then his eyes have trouble re-focusing to see distance. The optometrist proclaimed that he has reached an age where he must wear glasses for reading, drawing and focusing on anything up close.
He was actually pretty excited. He knew this was coming (we’d just been waiting to save up the funds for the exam and glasses) and we had a good time trying on different glasses and picking out which pair would best suit him. I think we did a good job and he’s been wearing the glasses even when he doesn’t really need to, just because he likes them. He’s thrilled to be able to read and draw without straining! No more migraines! Plus, they make him look even more attractive than he already was, in my humble opinion.
I’m linking up several places today for Wordful/Wordless Wednesday!
