It’s finally warm and beautiful outside, and my fashion-conscious daughters have informed me that means it’s time to find the perfect easy Spring hairstyle!
The girls both have Spring dances this coming Friday, and both are very excited. They’ve been preparing for their individual dances since the middle of last week — it’s like Prom Week for tweens. Lakin has picked out a hot pink dress with black details, and she’s been begging me to come up with an easy Spring hairstyle to go with it.
I think I’ve found it!
Lakin’s hair is long and super thick. It’s dark brown, with golden brown and coppery red streaks that make it shine like a new penny when the sun hits it. Gorgeous. I’m jealous of her hair — I’ve been dyeing mine for years, trying to achieve the color that she has naturally.
She’s also lucky in that her hair holds a curl beautifully, and with only the slightest mist of hair spray. She loves it when I “do” her hair, though I have to say that I’m really not all that great at it. We have fun with it though, and I do love brushing and playing with her beautiful tresses, just like I used to play with my little sister’s hair, two decades ago.
I watched this video by “It’s Judy Time” earlier this week. Judy creates a lovely loose wave using a curling iron and a few basic hair products, then she shows how to twist your hair into a braided headband. So cute! She makes it look very easy. I think I can even manage this one. Lakin is really looking forward to her hair looking just like Judy’s hair does in this video, so I hope I can carry it off this Friday for the dance!
