At the beginning of the summer, I wrote a post about how our family was saving money using MasterCard and the Fuel Rewards Network. I thought it was about time to update you all on our summer savings, and what we’ve been able to do with our grocery rewards. I’ve learned even more about the Fuel Rewards Network since we began using it for money savings — MasterCard is only one of their many sponsors!
Our family has been able to save money with our grocery shopping, dining out, and shopping online. We’ve actually switched grocery stores for all of our shopping this summer, so that we can earn more grocery rewards. Our savings go up even more when I pay with our MasterCard. By linking our MasterCard with the Fuel Rewards Network, I automatically earn an extra $0.03 off per gallon for every $100 I spend… and that adds up super quickly!
We haven’t ventured too far from home these past few months, but with the money we’ve saved using MasterCard’s Fuel Rewards, we’ve been able to host several barbecues and pool parties for friends and family. It’s been amazing to be able to spend that special time with ones that we love, especially with our little nieces and nephews, who are growing up so quickly!
We’ve also been able to splurge on little treats for ourselves! After a recent shopping trip pushed us to an $0.85/gallon fuel savings, we took the amount that we saved at the pump ($12.75 savings when filling up our PT Cruiser’s gas tank) and took an evening trip to our local Krispy Kreme doughnut shop! One dozen delicious doughnuts later… we were a car full of happy summer savers!
The girls were thrilled when it came time for school shopping this past month, and we were able to splurge on the fancier notebooks and binders that they always want (but can’t always get). They took great pleasure in choosing supplies for each class, including a super cool graphing calculator for Lakin.
We have also been so grateful to have been able to visit our family’s property in the country much more than we normally would this summer. The property is more an hour from our house, so we have only been able to visit Clara’s memorial stone a handful of times in the last year, but in the past three months, we’ve been fortunate to make three separate trips using our discounted fuel rate. We’ve used our fuel rewards savings and paid with our MasterCard each time, which saved us a substantial amount of money.
We use the Fuel Rewards Network mobile app when we’re out and it lets us know which gas stations, grocery stores, and restaurants are the closest to us. There are a lot… it’s really amazing how many stores and brands have joined this amazing savings network.
We will definitely continue using the Fuel Rewards program and MasterCard, and we plan to use our next big savings to fund our family’s annual trip to the Carolina Renaissance Faire this fall! Not only will we be able to use the fuel rewards on the drive from Greenville, SC to Charlotte, NC and back, but we can use the money we save to buy our entrance tickets and maybe even a couple of turkey legs. Delicious!
I highly recommend that you sign up for the Fuel Rewards Network and link up your MasterCard, if you haven’t already done so. There’s so much money to be saved… you have nothing to lose by signing up, and plenty of money to gain!
